Title: Like Doves
How can I communicate the contrasting views of biblical love and worldly love through depictions of people interacting with their environment or with objects?I am interested in this idea because rather than bringing confusion with my art I want to bring light. I want my art to help people see the true love of God and show them that they should show that love for others. I worked with acrylic paint for this entire project. My idea for this piece was based off of Song of Solomon 1:15 “How beautiful you are, my darling, how beautiful! Your eyes are like doves.” I showed this through making this woman in Song of Solomon to have eyes of doves, your eyes are drawn to the doves in this piece just how this man is drawn to this woman. The man is drawn to the love of God within her(the doves) and it really doesn't matter what she looks like if she has her identity in Christ. In the beginning I was going to paint the woman's face but then I decided to blend her face into the sunset.I liked the colors that I used to bring great attention to the doves. In the future I would work more on the background.

Title: Faint with Love
How can I communicate the contrasting views of biblical love and worldly love through depictions of people interacting with their environment or with objects? I am interested in this idea because rather than bringing confusion with my art I want to bring light. I want my art to help people see the true love of God and show them that they should show that love for others. For this project I used drawing pencils, an eraser, and a blender. I explored the drastic contrast of dark and light in my project by having the backgrounds very different in shade and the girl is seen in very different lights in the two times she is portrayed. I did this to show that when she was beaten by the guards( referenced in Song of Solomon chapter 5 verses 7-8) she became weak. This can be used as a story to represent that when we let ourselves become like the world we become weak with love for God and we begin to seek him out because we are so bruised by the world. While i worked i realized that i wanted to have the same girl in the drawing twice to show the contrast of the Father's love and the world's love when originally i was only going yo include the girl in the background to show her pain from the world. In my piece I think I made it very clear that the girl that is in the piece is in there twice, it's not two different people. In the future i would like to add more texture to my piece to bring lots of attention to certain areas of this project.

Title: Woe to you Women of Complacency
How can I communicate the contrasting views of biblical love and worldly love through depictions of people interacting with their environment or with objects? I am interested in this idea because rather than bringing confusion with my art I want to bring light. I want my art to help people see the true love of God and show them that they should show that love for others. For this project I used drawing pencils and some prisma colors. For my investigation I combined a close up of a woman as well as a barren background to pull the scene together. I did this to show that when, specifically women, allow the world to overpower the voice of God they become complacent and comfortable with the spot they are in which is very dangerous. God loves us so much that he wants us to grow and get out of our comfort zone, because if we are to share his glory we must also share his suffering. While I was working I decided to change the girls face from blank to mourning because she is realizing that her fields are bare and her work is now fruitless because she followed the world and became comfortable. In my piece I think that the texture works well to show the roughness I wanted to incorporate. In the future I would want to add another element to this project to add to the effect of the roughness.

Title: My Darling Among Thistles
How can I communicate the contrasting views of biblical love and worldly love through depictions of people interacting with their environment or with objects? I am interested in this idea because rather than bringing confusion with my art I want to bring light. I want my art to help people see the true love of God and show them that they should show that love for others. In this project I only used acrylic paints and a white canvas. In my investigation of this project I experimented with background and close-ups. I also experimented with having a background as well as a central focus for the whole piece. I did this to highlight this verse, "Like a lily among thistles is my darling among young women." Song of Solomon 2:2. This verse is showing that because this young woman is so in love with God and is following Him with all her heart she stands out against all the other young women around her who are living for the world. As I worked I decided to blur the background to give the effect of a faded, less beautiful close-up compared to the woman who is portrayed. In my piece I really enjoy the woman's firey hair and that it stands out as her crown among the thistles. In the future I would've waited to do the lily in her hair because it was difficult to paint around it.

I am interested in this idea because rather than bringing confusion with my art I want to bring light. I want my art to help people see the true love of God and show them that they should show that love for others. I used only acrylic paints for this project along with pencils to sketch my work. In this piece I experimented with a different color pallet, green is used as a symbol of growth and peace and brown is a symbol of being grounded. I combined these two colors and connected this painting to Psalms 127:1-5 which talks about how a man is blessed for having many children because children are a great reward to a family. God gifts children to us to teach us things and gives us the opportunity to show them love and teach them the ways of God. I think that the combination of green and brown in working well in my pice because i think it balanced really well in the end. In the future I would've added more detail to the man and his son since they are the center focus.

Title: Black as a Raven
How can I communicate the contrasting views of biblical love and worldly love through depictions of people interacting with their environment or with objects? I am interested in this idea because rather than bringing confusion with my art I want to bring light. I want my art to help people see the true love of God and show them that they should show that love for others. For this project I used acrylic paints and metallic acrylic paints. My investigation is summed up in this collage type of painting, there's not really one thing to focus on, but many which is a style I haven't used in recent projects. This investigation can be connect to the scripture I used in Song of Solomon 5:10-15. This woman is describing her love as someone with many tangible qualities and she compares them to physical things, I think this highlights that God wants us to delight in his divine qualities as well as the qualities of other as a way to show love to them. In the Bible it says to practice this in Romans 12:10 "Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other." As I worked I revised the background by making it more complex to add more depth to the painting.I think the metallic colors I went with is working well to bring attention to many parts of the painting. In the future I would take more time on the background and other side elements.

Title: Picked Out
How can I communicate the contrasting views of biblical love and worldly love through depictions of people interacting with their environment or with objects? I am interested in this idea because rather than bringing confusion with my art I want to bring light. I want my art to help people see the true love of God and show them that they should show that love for others. For this project I used drawing pencils and erasers. For my investigation I experimented with intense shadows to symbolize those who are not picked out by God. my inspiration for this investigation came from Song of Solomon 6:2-3 and Romans 8:29 which shows that God has specially picked out His people and He takes great delight in them because they are like His son. If you live for Him and wholeheartedly seek His heart and His kingdom then you will become one of His chosen that He has plucked out of the crowd. As I worked I decided to make the lilies growing out of the ground a large shadow instead of having the actual flowers in the drawing. In my drawing I really enjoy the great contrast between the wall and the dark shadows. In the future I would like to make this on a larger scale and also make it a painting rather than a drawing.

Title: Into One
How can I communicate the contrasting views of biblical love and worldly love through depictions of people interacting with their environment or with objects? I am interested in this idea because rather than bringing confusion with my art I want to bring light. I want my art to help people see the true love of God and show them that they should show that love for others. I used acrylic paints on canvas to make this painting. I based my project on Ephesians 5:30-33; this scripture illustrates our relationship with the Holy Spirit through marriage. My painting helps people to see that when you are joined with the Holy Spirit your hearts are intertwined and the love of the Father is shared. I showed this with the blood of Christ intertwining the heart of the woman and my depiction of the Holy Spirit. As I worked I added the shadow of the Holy Spirit to reflect that he feels emotions like we do. I really love the window in the background because I think that the light shining through shows the clarity that comes from being intertwined with the Holy Spirit. In the future I would have rather done this on a larger scale to get more into detail with all part of this painting.

I am interested in this idea because rather than bringing confusion with my art I want to bring light. I want my art to help people see the true love of God and show them that they should show that love for others. I only used a canvas and acrylic paint for this project. My investigation with this project was working with darker light and not having a certain focal point. I based this project on Galatians 5:1 and Psalms 27:4-6 because when we fully sacrifice ours lives to God we find freedom, God's love is freedom, God is freedom. The world may think that doing whatever you want is what frees you, but living with the Holy Spirit and loving Jesus and doing what He says is what really brings freedom. As I worked I was going to have the person in this painting standing up but I decided to have him on his knees because I think it highlights the reverence for God this person has. My favorite part of this piece is the fact that there's not one specific thing you're supposed to look at because we aren't the ones who matter, Jesus is. In the future I would like to replicate this with different scenery and with different positions.

Title: I don't love You
How can I communicate the contrasting views of biblical love and worldly love through depictions of people interacting with their environment or with objects? I am interested in this idea because rather than bringing confusion with my art I want to bring light. I want my art to help people see the true love of God and show them that they should show that love for others. I worked with a canvas and acrylic paint to make this painting. As I worked with this project I decided to use lots of different colors to show that the world outside might be bright and beautiful, but in reality when we follow the world's view of love we are actually telling Jesus that we don't love Him. We are figuratively nailing Jesus' on the cross everytime we sin. This piece is based on John 14:15 "If you love me, obey ,my commandments". When we truly obey God and do what he says we are telling Him that we love Him and it produces freedom in our lives. As I worked I made the background more complex to show how following the world seems appealing to us. In my piece I really like the detail in the hands and how Jesus' hand looks more red and real to the eyes. In the future I would want to zoom out this piece so that you could see Jesus' body and the person nailing him to the cross.
